Alberta'lyn (Lyn) Smith
Founder, HandZ Up NevadaYes, my first name is Alberta'lyn — most people call me Lyn.
My heart for serving women started over 20 years ago when I ran an in-home child care center in Southern California. I saw firsthand how much single mothers were carrying — and how little support they had.
After moving to Nevada, I went through a divorce that left me displaced with three daughters of my own. No safety net. No support system. No roadmap. I know what it feels like to stand in that gap between where you are and where you need to be — and have no idea how to cross it.
Through God's grace and the kindness of people who believed in me, I found my way back. I opened another child care center here in Las Vegas. I rebuilt.
But I never forgot what it felt like to be alone in that.
HandZ Up Nevada exists because I refuse to let another single mom go through that without a hand reaching back. Not a handout — a genuine hand up. Someone to say: you matter, you can do this, and I'm going to help you get there.
If you're a single mom in the Las Vegas Valley and you need help, please reach out. That's exactly why we're here.
